Blood pressure drug could treat vascular dementia

Researchers in the UK are about to conduct a two year trial to determine if common blood pressure drug, amlodipine could treat vascular dementia.

The second most common form of dementia only to Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, is caused by problems with blood supply to the brain.

The Alzheimer’s Society and the British Heart Foundation have together announced the £2.25m trial which hopes to provide a treatment for vascular dementia in the next five to 10 years.
