Dementia Australia congratulates Ambassador Ita Buttrose on Queen’s Birthday Honour

Dementia Australia congratulates long-time Ambassador, supporter and advocate Ita Buttrose, who today has been awarded a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) in the Queen’s Birthday 2019 Honours for eminent service to the community through leadership in the media, the arts and the health sector, and as a role model.

Ms Buttrose has a long history of advocating for people living with dementia, their families and carers.

Dementia Australia CEO Maree McCabe acknowledged Ms Buttrose for her significant contribution to the organisation over many years.

“We are so very proud that Ita has been awarded a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC),” Ms McCabe said.

“Ita has made an immense contribution to our organisation over several years in many different roles, including as President of Alzheimer’s Australia, as a member of the NSW Advisory Committee, and now as an Ambassador.

“I would like to take this opportunity to formally acknowledge Ita’s work in being a strong and passionate advocate for the 447,000 Australians living with dementia, their families and carers, for elevating their voices and raising awareness about dementia.

“We are very grateful for Ita’s on-going dedication to the cause and are so very proud to call her an Ambassador.

“On behalf of everyone at Dementia Australia, I would like to congratulate Ita for this very well-deserved honour.”
