Forest trail brings quiet relief

The Woowookarung Regional Park in Ballarat, Victoria, is slowly being transformed to include a dementia-friendly native sensory garden/sensory cue trail.

The Ballarat Dementia-Friendly Advisory Group aims to create a safe space for people living with dementia, as well as creating a blueprint for how other communities could establish similar trails.

In this video we share the planning and thought behind the trail. It also features people living with dementia, community members, and the project team talking about their shared vision for the future. A second video, which will focus on the trail’s establishment, will be filmed in coming months.

Dementia Australia thanks everyone who participated in the filming of this video. For more information on projects working to create dementia-friendly communities, please visit dementiafriendly.org.au.
